The lap timer that rides with you.

We build LapTime: a handlebar lap timer that measures every lap by GPS, and an app that turns those laps into times, rankings and holeshot analysis. Built for motocross, and tested on the track, not on the bench.

The app

LapTime

The device records; the app shows what it means. You get back from a session, hold your phone near it, and the laps upload on their own.

Lap times

Every crossing of the finish line, with the best lap of the day and the track record — and whose it is.

Track ranking

You and the other riders on the same track, side by side. That is what makes a number mean something.

Holeshot analysis

The timer gives the start signal itself — a horn on the CYD, the light going out on the others — and counts from that instant. You can compare several starts and see where the holeshot is won.

Your line on the map

The line you actually rode, lap by lap, over satellite imagery of the track.

Phone and desktop

Apps for iPhone and Android, and a website that works in any browser.

Strava

If you already use Strava, bring your sessions across without entering anything twice.

The recent sessions screen, showing each rider's lap times with the track record highlighted A circuit ranking in the app, riders ordered by their best lap A session on the map, with the line ridden drawn over satellite imagery of the track

The app is currently published in the Brazilian App Store only. The web version works anywhere.

The hardware

The timers

Three models, at different stages. The status of each one is written down: one is out on the track, one under test, one in development.

In the field

LapTime CYD

Today's model — the one on the handlebar, recording real sessions.

  • 10 Hz GPS — ten positions per second
  • 2.8" colour touchscreen
  • Race start with a horn and a 5–10 s random hold
  • Memory card for the sessions
  • Bluetooth transfer to the phone
  • Over-the-air updates from the app itself
  • 18650 battery
In development

LapTime WS-1

The middle one: colour screen and a motion sensor, which is what measures the air time of each jump. The board is under test — it is not a product yet.

  • 2" colour screen, capacitive touch
  • 6-axis motion sensor — jumps and race starts
  • Battery with on-board charging and a gauge
  • Same protocol and same app as the CYD
Under test

LapTime SP-1

Design render of the LapTime SP-1: a small black body the size of a transponder, showing a lap time on its screen, with two short pigtail connectors
A design render. The device exists and is under test.

Exactly the size of a MyLaps TR2 transponder — it drops into the mount already on the bike, with nothing to drill. It already records sessions and race starts.

  • 73 × 50 × 22 mm, the same as the TR2
  • Small display, for the charge and the free space
  • During a session the light does the talking
  • Sessions in internal memory, no card
  • Same chip and same firmware as the CYD
